Tea wares from Occupied Japan

While Japan had a centuries-old tradition of ceramics (stoneware, china, porcelain) ranging from functional to decorative before the war, many of the factories were damaged during the fighting and skilled workers were in short supply. At war’s end, former factory workers and artisans found their way home and began to take up their jobs in the ceramics industry.

The consequences of missing tea time

I’ve been drinking a lot of tea every day for more years than I care to disclose; let’s just say a long time. So when I miss having my tea, I really feel the loss. Without my tea I tend to get cranky and tired. Sometimes I get a headache. But there seems to be some dispute about why this happens. (Photo right: My dear reliable electric tea kettle.)
